James Byron Staggs, 61, of Oolitic, passed away on September 21, 2023, with his family and friends by his side.
Born March 7, 1962, in the state of Washington, the son of Douglas A. and Janet (Montieth) Staggs. He had worked in the maintenance department at Garden Villa for many years. His co-workers there were like his second family and he spoke highly of them. He was a former member of the National Guard and was baptized at Southland Church of Christ. He loved his family, collecting coins, tinkering with things, Chuck Norris movies, and building model cars with a special eye for old trucks.
Survivors include two daughters, Misty Staggs, and Mackenzie Staggs; two sons, Nickkiah and Shawn Staggs; a grandson, Daniel; two brothers, Douglas (Margaret) Staggs and Thomas (Michelle) Staggs; three sisters, Roseanne (Don) Suggs, Mary Ann (Doug) Carmichael, and Tammy Mundy (Tommy Terrell); several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Roger, Bill, and Bruce.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, September 25 at the Day & Carter Mortuary. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Monday at Hillenburg Cemetery. Family and friends may express condolences at www.daycarter.com.
