Teen domestic fight over Snapchat post leads to battery arrest

BEDFORD – A Bedford teen was arrested Tuesday afternoon after officers were requested to the 100 block of Parkwood Drive following a report of a domestic battery with injury.

When officers arrived they found a female walking toward Parkwood Drive from the area of Windsor Drive crying as she approached the officers.

She told police she got into a fight with her 17-year-old boyfriend and during that argument, he choked her and pushed her down on a bed. She had red marks and bruising to her wrists and redness around her neck. The female told police when he punched her on the bed he put all his weight on her and choked her making it difficult to breathe. He then grabbed her and pushed her into a closet and wouldn’t let her leave.

The female told police she had snuck the male into the apartment the night before because her father would not allow her to have the male at the home.

The female would not tell police what they were fighting about, but their 3-month-old child was present during the altercation. The male left after the fight.

The female denied medical attention but signed a battery affidavit.

The male arrived at the Bedford Police Department while officers were on the scene. The male’s father was alerted and also responded. He told police the female instigated the fight. The male had numerous scratches and red marks all over his body and neck.

The male told police the fight started escalating over a Snapchat posting. He said the female had pushed him into the closet to hide him from her father. He said the female had pulled his hair and slapped him in the face and throat several times. He denied grabbing the female by the throat but admitted to punching the wall.

The teen was detained on charges of domestic battery in the presence of a person under the age of 16, strangulation, and criminal confinement. He was released to his father and will appear in court on September 27th at 9 a.m.

The Department of Child Services was also contacted.
