Pedestrian struck by a vehicle at gas station in Pekin

PEKIN – A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle at Casey’s gas station in Pekin Thursday night.

The accident was reported at 7:54 p.m. in the parking lot.

According to police, a white Dodge pickup truck, driven by Attis Hatcher, 32, of Pekin, pulled away from a gas pump as James Brown, 59, of Pekin, was walking through the parking lot towards the gas pumps. Hatcher did not yield and struck Brown with his truck.

Brown was transported to St. Vincent Salem Hospital by the Washington County Ambulance Service for treatment of his injuries.

It was discovered during the investigation that Hatcher was driving on a suspended driver’s license with a prior conviction and he did not have insurance.

Hatcher was arrested on charges of operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license resulting in bodily injury and operating a vehicle without financial responsibility with a prior conviction.
