Indiana State Police investigate afternoon shooting incident in Garrett

INDIANA – Detectives from the Indiana State Police were called early yesterday afternoon to investigate a reported gunshot injury at a residence in the 200 block of West Keyser St, Garrett, IN. 

Shortly before 3:00 p.m., the first arriving officers on the scene found a 15-year-old boy suffering from what appeared to be a single gunshot wound to the leg. There is limited information available at this time, however, detectives believe that this was an isolated incident inside the home, and there is no existing threat to the community at large.  

The injured boy was transported by Parkview EMS to a Fort Wayne hospital with what was described as a non-life-threatening injury to the upper leg.  The boy’s parents have been contacted and are currently with him at the hospital.

This investigation is ongoing.  At this time there is no further information to release.
