SPRINGVILLE – A traffic stop and search of a home landed a man behind bars.

On Monday, September 11, an Indiana State Trooper stopped a vehicle after he witnessed the driver across the center line on State Road 54 just east of Owensburg Road.

The trooper also noted in his report the driver was traveling 62 miles per hour in a 50-mile-per-hour zone.

Jason Stratton

The trooper learned the driver 45-year-old Jason Stratton was driving on a suspended driver’s license.

The trooper stopped the vehicle on Stratton Road at State Road 45.

Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department officers assisted at the scene. The department’s canine Dusty alerted officers to drugs in Stratton’s vehicle.

Police found a baggy of marijuana, digital scales, and a baggy containing crystal meth residue.

Indiana State Police then requested a search warrant for Stratton’s home at 41 Hillview Lane in Springville. During that search, troopers found a vacuumed sealed bag containing crystal meth. They also located numerous digital scales, a loaded handgun, glass smoking devices, and a baggy of crack cocaine.

Stratton was arrested on charges of possession of meth, possession of cocaine, unlawful possession of a syringe, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
