Bluejackets continue winning ways, beating Shoals and Eastern in consecutive days

MITCHELL – Mitchell High School earned their 13th and 14th wins of the season after beating Shoals and Eastern Pekin on back-to-back days, improving to 15-4 on the year.

The Bluejackets beat the Jug Rox 3-1, winning 25-13 in the first set, losing 25-23 in the second before closing out with a 25-15 win.

The second set loss for Mitchell was their first set dropped in almost two weeks, since they were beaten 0-2 by Seymour on Aug. 26.

Jocelyn Allen led the Bluejackets on Wednesday with 18 kills, to go along with 12 from Brooke Reynolds and a pair of blocks from Jillian Bond and Grace Thompson.

Mitchell topped the Musketeers the following evening 3-0, with set scores of 25-10, 25-18 and 25-15.

Leading the Bluejackets in kills on Thursday was Jenna Allen, who finished with 10, followed by Reynolds with nine and Jocelyn Allen, who finished with eight. Adding two blocks for Mitchell were Bond and Jayden Allen.

The Bluejackets have now won five in a row. Their next scheduled matchup in Monday, when they’ll welcome Floyd Central (7-6) to town.
