COLUMBUS – Bedford North Lawrence finished 16th in the Rick Weinheimer Invitational during boys high school cross country action on Saturday.

The Stars totaled 403 points in the 20-team field. Noblesville won the title with 64, followed by Floyd Central (88) and host Columbus North (115).

Jonah Bailey paced BNL, crossing the line in 17:13.1 to finish 54th overall. Alex Nicholson was 64th in 17:26.6, and Nick Lindley was 67th in 17:35.2.

“We had three runners under 18 minutes, we’re making progress toward running competitive times, which is a juxtaposition from this point last year,” BNL coach Nick Boyd said. “I’m hopeful we can keep our momentum going in the right direction and continue to get faster and better as a team. This should be a slight confidence boost.

“I am eager to see which runners continue to battle for open spots to build our top 5.”

Jaymee Reed (19:19.3) and Eli McFarland (19:55.4) completed the BNL scoring.

Floyd Central’s Will Conway won the race in a blistering 15:10.2.

The Stars will compete in the Eagle Classic at Brown County on Sept. 9.
