RAMSEY – Bedford North Lawrence finished fourth in the North Harrison Invitational during girls high school cross country action on Thursday.

The Stars totaled 141 points in the nine-team field (19 total teams were represented). North Oldham (Ky.) won the title with 30 points, followed by Corydon (37) and Jasper (73).

Elise Williams paced BNL, crossing the line 25th overall (in field of 95 competitors) in 22:01.25, while Francesca Orozco was 29th in 22:47.48.

“Today we ran as a pack,” Orozco said. “We encouraged and pushed each other to do well. Racing is all mental and it’s not the easiest, but running with the girls helps make it fun.”

Other scoring finishers for BNL included Madison Chandler (33rd in 23:07.34), Jabrie Sullivan (36th in 23:24.32) and Evija Buike (41st in 24:14.97).

“We’re really proud of all the PRs we had tonight,” BNL co-coach Danielle Garrison said. “I was happy to see them have such a smart, competitive race.”

“It’s exciting to see the girls improving and having success as a team and on an individual level,” BNL co-coach Amy Spence added. “They work hard at practice and really love to compete. It’s awesome seeing it pay off for them.”

North Oldham’s Elle Cargould won the event in 19:03.63.

BNL will compete in the Columbus North Classic on Saturday.
