Two teens detained for attacking another student

BEDFORD – Two female Bedford teens were issued summons to appear in juvenile court on charges of battery. 

On Wednesday, at 3:49 p.m. teen came to the Bedford Police Department to report she had been jumped by two other females after school.

The female told police she was walking home from Bedford Middle School and was on Washington Avenue when two females got behind her, grabbed her backpack, and dragged her behind the  Dermatology Center of Southern Indiana. The two females, ages 13 and 14, then began kicking and punching her.

The teen said she was attacked after she posted something about one of the teens who attacked her on Snapchat.

The teen who was attacked suffered bruising on her forehead and a busted lip. She had scrapes on her elbow and knees, and scratches to her hand. 

Officers then spoke to the two other teen females. The teens told police they confronted the injured teen about her Snapchat post. One of the girls did admit to administering a “little slap” and that is when the fight started. Both admitted to throwing punches and kicking the injured female teen.

Both teens were issued summons to appear in juvenile court on September 13 at 9 a.m. on charges of juvenile delinquency by battery.
