Columbus and Jasper companies announce layoffs

INDIANA – Ten Indiana businesses have announced more than 1,300 layoffs so far in August, according to notices sent to the state’s Department of Workforce Development including local businesses:

  • Westrock Co. in Columbus the maker of paperboard containers will lay off 101 employees as the company closes its facility at 3101 State Street in Columbus. WestRock’s layoffs are expected to happen Oct. 15.
  • Fifty-two jobs will be eliminated starting Oct. 14, 2023, at Arrowhead Engineering Products in Jasper.

The state posted four of those notices on Friday, bringing the August total of layoffs to 1,365.
