Lafayette driver arrested after fleeing from police

LAFAYETTE – On Wednesday, August 16, while patrolling Braddock Drive in Lafayette, Indiana State trooper Thomen tried to stop a 2003 Chevy Impala for multiple traffic violations. Instead of stopping, the driver fled north, driving north on Braddock way, then turning onto Honeybrook Way.

The trooper pursued, following the driver west on Honeybrook Way and beyond. The driver failed to stop at numerous stop signs during the chase, finally parking at a residence near Phillips Court. Trooper Thomen took the man, one Johnny Munsey, safely into custody and transported him to Tippecanoe County Jail.

Johnny Munsey, 54, from Lafayette, IN was arrested on the preliminary charges of:

  • Resisting Law Enforcement with a Vehicle – Level 6 Felony
  • Reckless Driving – Class C Misdemeanor

Trooper Thomen was assisted at the scene by other troopers from the Lafayette Post and the Lafayette Police Department.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
