ISP makes arrest in DeKalb County shooting

GARRETT – Detectives with the Indiana State Police have made an arrest associated with yesterday’s shooting investigation at the North Pointe Crossing Mobile Home Park in Garrett, IN.

The person of interest that was taken into custody Tuesday, Kerry Jamar Hawkins, 21, of Detroit, Michigan, has now been arrested for his alleged role in the shooting and formally charged with one count of attempted Murder. 

Hawkins is currently being held in the DeKalb County Jail in lieu of a $200,000.00 cash bond.

There is no further information to release at this time. 

The Indiana State Police detectives have been assisted by the Garrett Police Department, Auburn Police Department, DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department, ISP Crime Scene Investigators, and scuba divers from both the ISP and Fort Wayne Fire Department.
