Salem man faces murder charge

SALEM – A 27-year-old Salem man is facing murder charges after a deadly shooting in Louisville on Wednesday, August 2.

Police arrested Benjamen Strange hours after the fatal shooting in the Clifton Heights neighborhood. He was arrested about 15 minutes south of Borden that evening.

He was charged with murder after a shooting happened at around 4 p.m. in the 300 block of Idlewylde in Louisville near Domino’s Pizza and Pat’s Steak House.

Louisville Metro Police Department arrived on the scene to find 31-year-old Sean Gray had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Gray died at the scene.

“The successful apprehension of Mr. Strange is a testament to the collaboration and dedication of law enforcement agencies in our region. I want to extend my gratitude to the Southeast Regional SWAT team, Washington County Sheriff’s Office, and LMPD for their support in this operation,” said Clark County Sherriff Scottie Maples.

Strange is currently being held in the Clark County Jail and is pending extradition back to Kentucky.
