Bedford woman sentenced to 644 days in prison

BEDFORD – On Thursday, August 3, a Bedford woman was sentenced to the Indiana Department of Correction by Lawrence Superior Court II Judge Robert Cline after failing to comply with the terms of her probation.

On April 21, 2022, Holli R. McCowan, 35, Bedford, pleaded guilty to theft, a Level 6 felony, with a habitual offender enhancement, as a part of a negotiated plea agreement with the State of Indiana. The plea agreement offered McCowan a total of four years in prison, with one year suspended and the balance to be served on house arrest.

However, while on probation, McCowan was charged with possession of methamphetamine and
unlawful possession of a syringe. She pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of a syringe, a Level 6 felony, on Thursday, August 3 in a negotiated plea agreement with the State of Indiana. She was sentenced
to 365 days in the IDOC and admitted to violating her probation.

As a result of her guilty plea, Judge Cline revoked McCowan’s suspended sentence and sentenced her to
644 days in the IDOC, and terminated the probation as unsuccessful.

The two sentences are to run consecutively.
