Town of Orleans petitions to forego municipal election

ORLEANS – During the Primary Election filing period earlier this year, only one person filed their candidacy for each of the three council positions and the Clerk-Treasurer in Orleans.

As a result, Orleans Town officials have petitioned the Orange County Election Board asking them to consider a resolution to allow the Town of Orleans to forego the 2023 municipal election.

Taking office in Orleans on January 1 will be Council members John F. Noblitt, Randy Clark, and John H. Lindley, along with longtime Town Clerk Robert F. Henderson, Jr.

According to Clerk Henderson, the decision by the election board will save the town approximately $5,000 or more in election expenses.
