Girl, 12, found intoxicated at city pool

BEDFORD – A 12-year-old girl was detained after Bedford Police officers responded Sunday to John Lowery Municipal Pool after a report of an intoxicated female juvenile.

When police arrived at 5:13 p.m. they spoke to a pool employee who directed them to an intoxicated girl. Officers found her laying face down on the ground.

Police say the teen smelled of alcohol. She got up and was unsteady on her feet and her eyes were glassy and bloodshot. She got up and began to walk away from the officers and had to be stopped.

She was walked to a police car to perform a preliminary breath test which resulted in a positive result for alcohol.

The girl was transported to the Bedford Police Department and Juvenile Probation was alerted. The girl was charged with illegal consumption. She was released to her mother on a promise to appear in court on August 16, at 9 a.m.
