Lane restrictions begin Thursday in Columbus

BARTHOLOMEW CO. — Starting Thursday, Indiana Department of Transportation contractor Force Construction Company plans to begin the removal of temporary structures underneath the I-65 bridge at State Road 46 in Columbus. Lane closures will occur while work is in progress.

Motorists can expect left lane closures on S.R. 46 and ramps at the I-65 interchange between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Thursday, and Friday this week (July 27-28), and the following Monday (July 31).

Once the structures have been removed, traffic will return to its normal configuration. Overnight restrictions will be in place from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Monday and Tuesday to replace pavement markings.

Starting Thursday evening (July 27), overnight lane restrictions will begin on I-65 for pavement marking installation. Lane restrictions are expected nightly between MM 67 and MM 69, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

INDOT reminds motorists to slow down, use caution and avoid distractions when traveling in and near construction zones. All work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.
