Extreme heat alters Rumpke waste collection times

MEDORA – The extreme heat forecasted this week has caused Rumpke Waste & Recycling to adjust its collection schedule.

Rumpke crews may be out earlier than normal the rest of the week in an attempt to service as many residents as possible before the intense heat sets in.

“The safety of our team members is a top priority,” said Eric Curtis, region vice president, Rumpke. “The high temperatures predicted for the remainder of the week make our work more difficult. Starting our drivers earlier in the day will help protect them from heat-related illnesses, while still being able to provide the essential service of waste and recycling collection.”

Rumpke asks that all customers place their material at the curb the night before their scheduled service day, to help ensure timely collection.

“We appreciate everyone’s assistance in helping us beat the heat by placing material out the night before,” Curtis said. “We understand early collection isn’t always ideal, but necessary to protect our team from intense weather conditions and heavy traffic.”
