Bloomington Police arrest man on attempted murder charge

BLOOMINGTON – On Saturday, July 15, at approximately 1:25 p.m., officers with the Bloomington Police
Department responded to a Subway restaurant, located in the 1800 block of North Kinser Pike, after a report of a shooting that just occurred.

Callers reported to dispatch that a man had just shot another man and was last seen running south from the scene.

Officers arrived and located a 51-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his chest outside the restaurant near the dumpsters. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital by ambulance where he underwent multiple emergency surgeries. At the time of this release, the victim is listed in critical condition.

It was determined that the suspect in the shooting was 22-year-old Sean Rivers, of Bloomington who was an employee at the restaurant.

Witnesses told investigators that Rivers and the victim were in a verbal argument because of where the
victim had parked his vehicle. The victim then reportedly walked out of the restaurant. Rivers followed the victim and shortly thereafter witnesses reported hearing a single gunshot.

Rivers then entered the restaurant, gathered his belongings, and left the store on foot.

Police located Rivers at 1:55 p.m. at a residence in the 500 block of West Northlane Drive. He was detained without incident and transported to the Bloomington Police Department for an interview and then to the Monroe County Jail on a felony charge of attempted murder.
