Traffic shifts on U.S. 31 for auxiliary lane construction in Jackson County

JACKSON COUNTY — Indiana Department of Transportation contractor Dave O’Mara Contractor, Inc. plans to begin work next week to add an auxiliary lane at the intersection of U.S. 31 and Farmington Road in Jackson County.

Starting on or after Monday, July 17, crews will begin removing existing pavement markings on the U.S.
31, followed by the installation of temporary markings near the intersection. Northbound traffic will be shifted to a temporary configuration with barrels daily between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. Barrels will be moved to the shoulder after 5 p.m. Drivers are reminded that the northbound lane will be uneven while work is in progress.

The contract was awarded to Dave O’Mara in March and is expected to be complete in late September. INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, use extra caution and consider worker safety when traveling through construction zones. All work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.
