Worker’s Comp Conference highlights best practices

July 11, 2023 — Worker’s compensation is one of the most important and costly issues facing Hoosier employers. According to national data, the average settlement for a work-related injury is $42,000.

Indiana businesses big and small can learn strategies to handle claims and keep premiums low at the Indiana Chamber of Commerce’s 2023 Indiana Worker’s Compensation Conference, which takes place August 24 at the Ritz Charles in Carmel. The event also offers a virtual attendance option.

The conference is presented by statewide law firm Kightlinger & Gray LLP in partnership with ClearPath Mutual. The content is ideal for a variety of business leaders, including human resource and personnel directors, safety coordinators, risk managers, benefits administrators, and health care providers.

“Understanding worker’s compensation and the associated best practices is a business imperative as the insurance premiums and payouts directly impact the bottom line,” says Indiana Chamber President and CEO Kevin Brinegar. “The Indiana Worker’s Compensation Conference is a good resource for how to handle worker’s compensation claims and how to keep your rates manageable.”

Featured speakers Kightlinger & Gray senior partners Libby Moss and Aubrey Kuchar Noltemeyer and ClearPath Mutual CEO Jeff Borkowski will cover various issues and hot topics related to worker’s compensation.

The agenda will feature the following sessions: Pain Management as a Device for Worker’s Compensation Claims; an interactive discussion of real-life scenarios; Worker’s Compensation Claims Trends: Under the Microscope; The ABC’s of Worker’s Compensation; How to Utilize Work Conditioning Programs and Functional Capacity Evaluations to Progress Worker’s Compensation Claims; Interplay of Laws: ADAA, FMLA and Worker’s Compensation; and Assembling the Employers’ ToolKit Panel Discussion.

Tickets are $449 for Indiana Chamber members and $549 for non-members. Group discounts are available and a number of continuing education opportunities are offered.
