Female resisted officers after being detained for violating protective order

OOLITIC – On Saturday, July 1, at approximately 7:00 p.m., Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Kinsley Duncan responded to the first block of Liberty Bell Street in East Oolitic after dispatch received a call that 57-year-old Terri Harp, of Bedford, was at the residence in violation of a protective order.

Deputy Duncan made contact with Harp, who became very aggressive and belligerent. When Officer Duncan attempted to place Harp into handcuffs, she actively and physically resisted arrest.

Deputies Robin Compton and Kenton Carter arrived and assisted with the arrest. During the arrest, Harp struck multiple officers, attempted to choke an officer, and would not comply with commands.

One of the officers suffered a possible concussion along with several scratches and abrasions as a result of Harp’s actions.

Harp was arrested and incarcerated at the Lawrence County Jail on charges of invasion of privacy, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest by force, strangulation, and battery on a police officer causing injury.
