Man behind bars for meth possession

BEDFORD – On Tuesday, officers with the Bedford Police Department received information from Indiana State Police that 44-year-old Daniel Pace, had a large amount of methamphetamine and could be traveling through Bedford.

At 10:34 p.m. on Wednesday, Bedford Police officers located Pace driving on Oolitic Road.

Officer Nick Crulo initiated a traffic stop and requested the assistance of canine Zazu and his handler Sergeant Faheem Bade.

Zazu alerted police to possible drugs in Pace’s vehicle. Officers with the help of Bedford Officer Clay Blackburn and Deputy Andrew Tillett searched the vehicle and found two large baggies containing a total 1 pound and 7.2 ounces of crystal meth.

Pace was detained on a charge of dealing and possession of meth.

“Because of the excellent teamwork involved in this incident, a large amount of illegal drugs will not make it to the streets of our community,” said Bedford Police Chief Terry Moore.
