BNL’s Waggoner caps career with strong outing for South All-Stars

BLOOMINGTON – Bedford North Lawrence’s Annie Waggoner capped her outstanding high school career with a strong performance in the Softball Coaches Association of Indiana’s North-South All-Star doubleheader on Saturday.

Waggoner, an All-State selection who is on her way to Indiana State, smashed a single and three-run home run, and she also pitched a scoreless inning with three strikeouts, during the South’s 17-6 victory in Game 1. In Game 2, she added a single and pitched in the fourth inning as the South finished the sweep with a 7-2 triumph.

“The first game was awesome,” Waggoner said. “Hitting a homer topped off my whole experience, and getting three Ks in an inning was pretty great, too. I enjoyed getting to know all of the girls on my team, as not only players but as people, too.

“The second game I overheated and got pulled, but overall I had a great experience, going out and having fun representing BNL.”
