Four teens detained after an officer was alerted that a teen had been attacked

BEDFORD – Four Bedford teens were detained after a Bedford Police officer was flagged down by a man in the area of Norton Lane and T Streets on Wednesday at 4:41 p.m. to report a juvenile being attacked.

The male told police a boy was possibly lured into the woods by several other teens and was assaulted. There was a video of the incidents. The man said when he heard of this he went to Thornton Park Pavilion and spoke to the juveniles involved.  He said the teens were aggressive and smelled of alcohol.

The officer viewed the Snapchat video. The officer located the victim who had an injury to his lip and marks on his face. The officer then contacted the victim’s father. Both refused to press charges.

The video showed a large group of juveniles fighting in a wooded area. The victim “appears to be knocked unconscious or severely stunned while laying on the ground”.

One of the teens is seen “powerfully striking and then kicking the victim in the face several times”.

Police found two of those involved at John Lowery Municipal Pool and they were detained.

Officers could smell alcohol on the teens. They were provided a breathalyzer. One had a blood alcohol level of 0.061 and the other 0.008.

Two others involved were located walking south on Q Street toward the pool.

All four were transported to the Bedford Police Department and Juvenile Probation was alerted. All four teens were released to their parents on a summons to appear in Juvenile Court on July 5, at 9 a.m. The teens were also issued a no-trespass order from 1625 Q Street or Thornton Park.
