Mitchell teen cuts off officer, runs a stop sign and is arrested for OWI and other charges

BEDFORD – A Mitchell teen was arrested on Thursday, June 15th after Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Andrew Tillett stopped her vehicle on State Road 58 East near Mount Pleasant Road.

The officer said the driver of the blue 2012 Ford Focus pulled out in front of his patrol vehicle quickly from a driveway causing the officer to slam on his brakes to avoid a collision. The vehicle then sped up. The vehicle and the officer approached the intersection of I and 5th streets. The driver of the Ford Focus ran a stop sign. The officer initiated a traffic stop.

Mollee Dillon

The driver 18-year-old Mollee Dillon stopped her vehicle at the intersection of J and 5th streets.

The officer said Dillon was intoxicated. The officer noticed some Twisted Tea, alcoholic beverage containers in the vehicle.

Under her right leg, the officer noticed a marijuana e-cigarette she was attempting to hide.

The officer also found an empty Tito vodka container and Dillon handed the officer the marijuana vape pen and a vape containing tobacco.

Dillon failed several field sobriety tests.

She was arrested on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, possession of marijuana, and illegal consumption by a minor. She was also issued a citation for disregarding a stop sign, speeding, and minor in possession of a tobacco product.

At the jail, Dillon had a blood alcohol content of 0.133 percent on a portable breathalyzer.

Dillon’s mother was contacted and she retrieved the vehicle.
