Lawrence County Deputies find woman passed out in a vehicle on Tunnelton Road

BEDFORD – On Monday, June 19th, Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department deputies Harrison Fleetwood, Thomas Porter, and Whitney Daugherty arrested a Mitchell woman after finding her passed out in a vehicle.

Police arrested 29-year-old Tori Weiss on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a prior conviction, resisting arrest by force, and battery on a police officer.

When police arrived they found Weiss passed out in a running Nissan Altima parked in the middle of Tunnelton Road, just south of Pinhook Road.

Police found Weiss slumped over the steering wheel with the vehicle running. They knocked on the window several times to wake Weiss. She then struggled to unlock the door and open it.

Police say Weiss was intoxicated and could not perform field sobriety tests due to her level of intoxication. She told police she had drunk “a lot”.

Lawrence County Fire Territory EMS arrived on the scene to medically evaluate Weiss. She was transported to IU Health Hospital for a blood draw.

While there she became combative with hospital staff and officers.

While walking Weiss into the hospital, she planted her feet, refused to walk, and twisted her body refusing to go into the hospital. After entering the hospital she continued to fight and yell, kicking an officer in the right leg. She then dropped to the ground and refused to get up.

In the exam room during the blood draw, Weiss continued to fail to comply, kicking and trying to bite the officers multiple times.

Blands Wrecker Service towed the vehicle from the scene.
