INDOT thanks motorists for their patience

INDIANA – INDOT thanks motorists for your patience as crews wrap up their preliminary work on what will become the new eastbound lanes of I-465.

The eastbound directional closures gave workers safe access to areas that would be difficult and dangerous to work in with live traffic.

Opening eastbound I-465 will be staged, like the closing, and will take some time.  Ramps will be opened in sequence, beginning with I-65 at the east end of the project and ending with I-70 at the west end.

All travel lanes and ramp movements on eastbound I-465 are expected to open ahead of the Thursday morning rush hour. Please watch out for workers and changing traffic patterns as crews move barrels and remove barricades.

Following the July 4th holiday weekend, work will begin on part two of the I-465 directional closure.

With eastbound traffic moved back onto the temporary eastbound lanes, all westbound I-465 travel lanes and on-ramps will close on or after July 7 to begin work on additional lanes, retaining walls, drainage structures, and bridge rehabilitation.

Old S.R. 37/Waverly Park Road access to S.R. 144 is expected to reopen this week.

The actual starting date and duration for work and any closures may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen activities occur.
