Indiana Democratic Party release statement on preliminary injunction on transgender healthcare ban

INDIANAPOLIS — On Saturday, the Indiana Democratic Party released the following statement after a federal judge blocked the vast majority of Senate Enrolled Act 480 from taking effect on Friday evening:

“Indiana Republicans can’t stop wasting taxpayers’ time and money on litigation to defend their hateful agenda. It didn’t have to come to this; despite similar laws being stopped in multiple other states, including Alabama and Arkansas, Indiana Republicans still passed legislation that strips parental rights to decide what is best for their children, and disregards the advice of medical professionals.

Predictably, this decision reaffirms what federal courts around the country have been saying for months: bans on transgender healthcare are dangerous to the well-being of children and a direct violation of parental rights.”
