John Edward Jones, Sr., 80, of Mitchell, passed away Thursday, June 8, 2023, at Indiana University Health Hospice House.
Born December 1, 1942, in Bedford, he was the son of David Crockett and Sylvia (Tincher) Jones. He married Wanda Bundy and she preceded him in death on September 25, 2000.
John served in the Army National Guard. He retired from RCA as a forklift driver. John was a member of ABATE of Indiana, Region 10.
Surviving are his children, John Jones, Jr. of Mitchell, Troy Jones of Mitchell, and Tonya Hattabaugh of Mitchell; grandchildren, Alicia Jones, Rachel Hattabaugh, Trey Jones, Levi Hattabaugh, Skye Jones, Jonathan Hattabaugh and Tristen Jones; great-grandchildren, Kaylee McPherson, Josh McPherson, Jr. and Levi Hattabaugh, Jr.; and sister, Roberta Tow of Bedford.
His parents; wife, Wanda Jones; and siblings, Joseph Jones, Albert “Delbert” Jones, Betty Stancomb, Joyce Jones, Mary Jones, Elsie Irwin, Thelma Jones, and George Jones, preceded him in death.
The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 14, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center. Burial will be at Mitchell Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
