BNL’s Mungle, Gates named All-HHC

BNL’s Cade Mungle was named All-HHC by the league’s baseball coaches.

BEDFORD – Bedford North Lawrence’s Cade Mungle and Cal Gates were named to the All-Hoosier Hills Conference First Team by the league coaches.

Mungle, a left-handed pitcher, went 4-1 with a solid 2.54 ERA while recording 63 strikeouts in only 44 innings, anchoring the staff as the Stars finished 17-11. He also hit .286.

Gates, an outfielder and Indiana University recruit, hit .407 with a team-high 13 doubles and 18 RBIs. He also worked double duty as a relief pitcher, going 1-2 in eight appearances.

The rest of the First Team included Floyd Central’s Noah Wathan, Bishop Letson, Ty Becker and Clayton Schroeder; Jennings County’s Cole Sigler; Seymour’s Bret Perry, Aiden Darlage and Charlie Longmeier; New Albany’s Landon Tiesing and Landon Gum; and Jeffersonville’s Jaden Hart, Caiden White and Logan Bingham.

BNL’s Walker Ward (3-0 with a 1.87 ERA) and Kline Woodward (.330 with team highs of 3 home runs and 21 RBIs) were named Honorable Mention.

BNL’s Cal Gates, an Indiana University recruit, led the Stars with a .407 average in 2023.
