BEDFORD – A Bedford woman was arrested when Bedford Police officers responded to Walmart on Wednesday, May 28th after a report of a battery at 9:23 p.m was received.

Lyric Wilcoxen

When police arrived they spoke to a female who was shopping at Walmart and was standing near the pharmacy speaking to a male she worked with when his girlfriend 23-year-old Lyric Wilcoxen approached them. She told police Wilcoxen threw a bottle of Tums at her and charged at her. The woman told police Wilcoxen was upset because she works with her boyfriend.

The male attempted to get between the two women but Wilcoxen pushed past him and grabbed the other woman’s hair and began punching her in the face. The woman attempted to defend herself but the male was able to push Wilcoxen off the woman. Wilcoxen and the male left the store.

The woman signed a battery affidavit.

Police then went to the male’s home and spoke with him.

He told police he had stopped to briefly talked to his co-worker when all of a sudden Wilcoxen came at the other woman. He told police he attempted to stop Wilcoxen. He said the other woman did nothing to provoke Wilcoxen.

Wilcoxen then called the police department but told them she would not speak to them without a lawyer present. The officer told Wilcoxen he was presenting the information to the Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Office and Wilcoxen hung up the phone.

Police detained Wilcoxen on a charge of battery.
