Traffic stop ends in arrest for dealing meth

RICHMOND – On Sunday, May 21, 2023, at approximately 12:00 a.m., Indiana State Trooper Clayton Fox was patrolling Richmond near North A Street and North 12th Street.  While patrolling, Trooper Fox noticed a vehicle turn down an alley with an equipment violation and initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle.

Trooper Fox made his initial approach and spoke to the female driver, identified as Krystina A. Morris, and her male passenger, identified as Gregory J. Dobbs.  While speaking to the two occupants, Trooper Fox recognized indicators of criminal activity and requested the assistance of a K-9 unit.

Richmond Officer Thomas Foster and his K-9 partner, Bo, responded to assist Trooper Fox.  K-9 Bo performed an open-air sniff around the vehicle and positively indicated the presence of narcotics in the vehicle.  A subsequent search of the vehicle was performed.

During the search of the vehicle, approximately 67.7 grams of meth, seven grams of fentanyl, and two grams of heroin were located. Along with the drugs, $941 in United States currency and items associated with dealing narcotics were located.

Gregory Dobbs was determined to have an active warrant through Wayne County for dealing meth.

Dobbs and Morris were arrested on felony charges of dealing and possession of meth, dealing and possession of narcotic drugs, unlawful possession of a syringe, and a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

The two were transported to the Wayne County jail without further incident.

Assisting Trooper Fox with this investigation was Officer Neal VanMiddlesworth of the Richmond Police Department.
