Seymour man sentenced to prison after pleading guilty to sexual misconduct with a minor

SEYMOUR – A Seymour man was sentenced in Jackson County Circuit Court Thursday to six years in the Indiana Department of Corrections after he plead guilty to a Level 5 felony count of sexual misconduct with a minor. Two counts of child molestation were dismissed as part of the plea agreement.

Tyler Fisher

Circuit Court Judge Richard Poynter gave 22-year-old Tyler Fisher, 433 days of jail time credit and 19 days of good time credit. He was also ordered to serve his full sentence with no time suspended. He must also register as a sex offender for 10 years. Fisher did not receive all of his good time credit due to his being involved in three incidents while in jail.

According to a probable cause affidavit, on June 1, 2021, Fisher was arrested after a report that Fisher had sex with a 13-year-old.

Police began their investigation on April 14, 2021, when police were contacted after a forensic interview at Susie’s Place, a child advocacy center in Blooming.

A warrant was issued for Fisher’s arrest on May 17, 2021. Fisher was arrested after police found him hiding in a bedroom at a home in the 600 block of Centennial Street in Seymour

After his arrest, Fisher refused to speak to officers and requested to speak to an attorney. The next day during a police interview Fisher confessed to the crime.

He posted a $5,000 bond on June 10, 2021, but was arrested on a Level 3 felony charge of child molesting in a different case.

He then posted bond on the second offense but failed to appear for a hearing on September 7, 2022, and a warrant for failure to appear was issued and he was arrested on September 9, 2022.

During his sentencing, Fisher did apologize to the victim and the victim’s family.
