Police arrest two on drug charges in two different incidents

WASHINGTON – On Saturday, May 20, 2023, at approximately 1:45 a.m. Washington Police Department’s 3rd shift Captain conducted a traffic stop on East National Highway for a traffic violation.

During the stop, canine Fen was utilized to conduct a free air sniff around the vehicle and alerted officers to possible drugs in the vehicle.

Officers reported locating approximately 27 grams of meth, found marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.

Police arrested 29-year-old Joshua Kyle Graber was arrested on charges of possession of meth, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Assisting on the traffic stop were deputies with the Daviess County Sheriff’s Department.

In April 2023, Detectives and members of the DEA Task Force began a narcotics investigation after receiving information about suspected meth distribution taking place on East Flora Street near Washington Community Schools.

As a result, deputies with the Daviess County Sheriff’s Department assisted Washington Police detectives in conducting a traffic stop on a vehicle being driven by 47-year-old Jon Grunwell.

During the stop, Washington Police Department canine Fen was utilized to conduct a free air sniff around the vehicle and alerted officers to possible drugs in Grunwell’s vehicle.

Officers reported locating approximately 447 grams of suspected methamphetamine and approximately 137 grams of marijuana. Grunwell was arrested on charges of dealing methamphetamine.

A search warrant was also served at the residence on East Flora Street and officers found more meth, two handguns, marijuana, pills and syringes, and items associated with narcotics distribution.

Assisting in the investigation were deputies with the Daviess County Sheriff’s Department and Martin County Sheriff’s Department and Dubois County Sheriff’s Department.

Police report the two incidents are not related.
