Obituary: Max “Ed” E. Stiles

Max “Ed” E. Stiles, 69, of Bedford, passed away on May 18, 2023 at I.U. Health Bedford Hospital.

December 15, 1953 – May 18, 2023

Born on Dec. 15, 1953, he was the son of Forrest Stiles and Mary Roslyn “Rose” Beedie-Stiles. He married Gayle Cagle in 2000 and she survives. Ed graduated from Bedford High School, retired from G.E. in Bloomington, and was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. He was an avid bowler and golfer who bowled several 300 games and had a hole in one.

Surviving Ed is his wife, Gayle; three children, Trent (Chelsea) Miller of Lanesville, Kyle Miller of Bedford, and Traci Miller of Bedford; granddaughter, Raelynn Miller; brother, Steve (Charlene) Stiles; nephew, Todd (Cammy) Stiles and family; several cousins; and two dogs, Sophie and Ace.

Ed is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Paul Stiles; and sister-in-law, Elese Stiles.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with Father Jegan Peter and Deacon Dave Reising officiating. Burial will follow. Visitation will be from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 as well as from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes. The Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, also at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel.
