Obituary: Lois Traveny

March 2, 1932 – May 17, 2023

Lois Traveny, 91, of Bedford, passed away at 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at I.U. Health Hospice House in Bloomington.

Born March 2, 1932, in Washington Co., she was the daughter of Glen and Ruth (Telle) Stewart. She married Henry Charles Traveny on August 4, 1967, and he preceded her in death on August 22, 1998. She had been employed at Indiana Bell Telephone and later worked as a secretary for Oakland City University for ten years and in medical transportation at Dunn Memorial Hospital for ten years.

Lois was a member of the Dive Christian Church where she served as organist, Sunday School teacher,
and was a member of the choir. She was a member of the Dive Ladies Aide Society and Open Heart Fellowship.

Survivors include eight grandchildren, Christy Chase and Jeff, Lindsay Taylor and Joel, Michael McCleery, Amber Gerkin, Abby Jarvis and Matt, Lisa Marsteiner, Matthew Jeter, and Aaron Denniston; several great-grandchildren and a niece, Diane Craig.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, Paul McCleery, and Glen McCleery; a sister, Mary Lyles; a brother, Robert E. Stewart.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 23rd in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Joe McAdams officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Silverville. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 22nd at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

The family asks that friends consider memorial contributions be made in Lois’ memory to the Dive Christian Church.
