Man arrested on drug charges after an officer detects the odor of marijuana in the truck

BEDFORD – A Paoli man was arrested on drug charges after a Bedford Police officer stopped his vehicle on Friday, May 5th on Mitchell Road.

The office observed a gray Ford F-150 traveling south on Mitchell Road and observed the vehicle had an expired license plate. The officer stopped the vehicle on Mitchell Road near the intersection of 25th Street.

The driver Elijah England, 43, of Paoli, was able to provide the officers with a receipt from the BMV where he had renewed his plates.

While speaking with England the officer detected the odor of marijuana. He asked England if there was marijuana in the vehicle. England told the officer he had some in his pocket and he handed it to the officer.

During a search of the vehicle officers also found a small plastic container containing crystal meth in the center console. Offices also found a bag containing THC-infused gummies.

England was arrested on charges of possession of meth and possession of marijuana. His truck was towed by Stone City Wrecker Service.
