BNL breezes to 5-0 conquest of Bloomfield

BNL’s Izzy Alldredge and the Stars stopped Bloomfield 5-0 on Monday.

BLOOMFIELD – Bedford North Lawrence rolled to a 5-0 win over Bloomfield during girls high school tennis action on Monday afternoon.

Becca Epping cruised to a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Adalyn Wiseman at No.1 singles, Ashlyn Wever conquered Lucy Allen 6-4, 6-3 at No.2, and Italy Lewis stopped Adalyn Figg 6-0, 6-2 at No.3.

“We were just the more experienced team,” BNL coach Joni Stigall said. “Ashlyn had the toughest match, playing a player who did have more playing experience than her. One thing about Ashlyn, her feet never stop moving and she never quits hustling. That pulls her through those close matches. She has really come a long way and I’m happy to see her get that win.”

In doubles, the Stars dropped only two games. Bella Stigall and Mallory Pride swept past Lain Graves and Lydia Wade 6-2, 6-0 at No.1. Kenley Craig and Izzy Alldredge breezed past Sadie Ross and Maddie Stone 6-0, 6-0 at No.2.

“Our doubles didn’t have much trouble,” Stigall said. “Sometimes those are the toughest matches to play well, so I was happy with their effort today. Italy and Becca played well and took care of business. Smart ball placement was key for them.”

The Stars will compete in the Scottsburg Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
