Legislation to begin screening for animal tranquilizers in overdose deaths headed to governor

STATEHOUSE – Legislation to begin screening for xylazine – an animal tranquilizer being mixed with drugs like fentanyl – in overdose deaths is now headed to the governor where it could be signed into law.

State Reps. Jennifer Meltzer (R-Shelbyville) and Ryan Lauer (R-Columbus) discuss how House Enrolled Act 1286 would help gather key data on the prevalence of xylazine in our communities and form an action plan.
