MITCHELL – Following their win over Linton-Stockton on Monday, momentum has continued to roll for Mitchell High School, who picked up two more wins this week, one over Paoli on Friday and another over North Daviess on Saturday, marking three victories in a row for the Bluejackets.

On Friday, Mitchell defeated the Patoka Lake Athletic Conference opponent Rams in dominant fashion, besting them 15-4 for their first conference win of the season.

The Bluejackets fell behind early, leaving the first inning down 1-0 after an RBI double from Olivia Nate. The Rams’ lead did not last long though, as Mitchell knocked in five runs in the second inning and never took their foot of the gas pedal from there.

On their way to the victory, Mitchell posted a season-high 17 hits against Paoli, led by Avery Southern and Malaya Tanglao, who each had three.

Emery Russell, Matti Rosenberger and Emma Chastain each batted in multiple runs, alongside Southern, who also had two RBIs including her second home run of the season.

Southern picked up the win for the Bluejackets at the mound on Friday, her second of the season, after pitching all seven innings and allowing seven hits against 31 batters faced.

On Saturday, Mitchell added another win to their season total, defeating the Cougars 5-4.

In similar fashion to Friday’s game, the Bluejackets found themselves trailing early on, once again thanks to an RBI double from their opponent, this time it was North Daviess’ Hadley Parisien.

Mitchell took the lead after a three run third inning, including a two-run homer from Rylee Brazzell, her second of the year.
