The 2023 Chevy Traverse recalled for an incorrect transmission sun gear

INDIANA – GM has issued a product recall for certain units of the 2023 Chevy Traverse due to the installation of the incorrect transmission sun gear.

Vehicles built with the incorrect transmission sun gear can have the driver-side half-shaft disengage from the transmission.

If the driver-side half-shaft were to disengage, affected vehicles can experience a loss of drive power or a rollaway while parked, both of which can lead to an increased risk of a serious crash.

The fix: certified GM technicians will be instructed to inspect the transmission and replace the sun gear as necessary, all free of charge.

Affected vehicles:

GM believes there are 7,840 vehicles affected by this recall in total, including 4,941 units of the Chevy Traverse.

GM will notify owners of affected vehicles and instruct them to make an appointment with their dealer. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on May 1, 2023.
