HELTONVILLE – Robert Luther Barrett, 98, of Heltonville, passed away on March 24, 2023, at Autumn Trace in Bedford.
He was born October 25, 1924, to Clyde and Bertha (Stevens) Barrett. He married Margorie Evelyn Whitted in 1953 and she preceded him in death. He then married Mary “Judy” (Turner) Barrett on October 21, 2004, and she survives.
Bob was a member of Englewood Baptist Church and the FOP. He retired from General Motors Powertrain after 34 years and was a farmer. He was a U. S. Army Veteran of WWII.
Surviving to cherish the memory of Bob is his wife, Judy; two stepsons, Kenny (Rita) Whitehead and Rick (Kathy) Whitehead; stepdaughter, Monagale (Rick) Mellinger; seven grandchildren, Carrie Young, Katie Lewis, Kirstie Baker, Matthew Whitehead, Sarah Burgess, Ashley Lucas, and Evan Mellinger; several great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Marjorie; and daughter, Shawna Lee Barrett.
Funeral services for Bob will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes in Bedford with Pastor David Ferry officiating.
Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery with Military Rites being accorded by the American Legion Gillen Post #33. Visitation will be held from 10:00am to 1:00pm on Tuesday, also at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel.
