William “Don” Purdy, 95, of Heltonville, IN passed away on March 23, 2023, at StoneBridge Health Campus.
November 4, 1927 – March 23, 2023
Born on November 4, 1927, he was the son of William Patrick and Cecilia Agnes (Keifer) Purdy. He married Letta Mae White on June 24, 1950, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, and she preceded him in death in 2016. Don attended Bedford High School and retired from the Times-Mail where he worked in the Composing Room for 41 years.
Surviving to cherish the memory of Don is his daughter, Teresa Diane Davis of Heltonville; two sons, Terry Don Purdy of Heltonville and Tony Dale (Anita) Purdy of Bedford; seven grandchildren, Julie Lindsey, Michael Davis, Jennifer (Cody) Turpin, Matthew Davis, Troy (Shannon) Purdy, Brent Purdy, and Ryan Purdy; five great grandchildren, Eden and Oliver Purdy, Brenston and Huxley Turpin, and Paisley Knott; and sister, Vivian McKee of Logansport. Don is preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter, Trella Denise Purdy in infancy; brother, Robert Purdy; sister, Martha Grubb; and daughter-in-law, Sharon Purdy.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Monday, March 27, 2023, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with Father Jegan Peter and Deacon Dave Reising officiating. Burial will follow at the Green Hill Cemetery.
A visitation will be held from 2:00pm to 6:00pm on Sunday, March 26, 2023, as well as 10:00am to the service time on Monday, both at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes in Bedford.
