City of Bedford announce portions of road closures for John Williams Boulevard and 16th Street

BEDFORD – The City of Bedford announced the following road closures:

This afternoon the westbound lanes of John Williams Boulevard will be diverted into one lane of eastbound John Williams Boulevard around construction. O Street will be closed north of John Williams Boulevard to 8th Street. John Williams Boulevard south to 10th Street will be open.

This pattern is estimated to continue through Saturday, March 18.

The road will be closed and lane restrictions for excavating and new piping of the 24-inch sanitary sewer pipe in John Williams Boulevard. The City of Bedford received a transportation and stormwater grant to complete this project. Updates will be given as the project continues with a schedule dependent on weather conditions. 

Also closed will be 16th Street West in westbound lanes will still be closed west of S Street and Brian Lane Way through Thursday, March 16th dependent on weather and schedule.

The entrance to Parkview Primary and Intermediate will still be accessible from 16th Street. Access to businesses west of the road closure will be accessible from 37.

Semi truck traffic can use Business US 50 to State Road 37 North to access west 16th Street and US 50. The road lane closure is due to an emergency repair to the sanitary sewer line on 16th St. 

City officials apologize for the inconvenience and thank motorists in advance for their cooperation as crews continue to improve the infrastructure of the city. 

Emergency personnel as well as the postal service have been notified of these lane restrictions. If you are aware of deliveries, please let them know of the lane restrictions.

Motorists are asked to avoid these areas if possible. Be patient, cautious, and aware of heavy equipment in these areas.
