Indiana Chamber of Commerce begins search for new CEO; Carmel-based Medallion Partners to guide process

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Chamber of Commerce has commenced an expansive search for a new president and CEO to replace its current leader, Kevin Brinegar, who is retiring on January 5, 2024, from the role he has held for the past 21 years.

Brinegar has guided the Indiana Chamber to become the second largest state chamber in the country and the national state chamber of the year. He has received the Sagamore of the Wabash Award from two Indiana governors for distinguished service and been selected as Indiana’s business leader of the year.

“Finding an individual to replace someone of Kevin’s caliber and intellect is somewhat like trying to find a unicorn, but I – along with the rest of our board of directors – am confident that our collaboration with Medallion Partners will find exactly the right person to lead the Indiana Chamber into the next phase of its remarkable journey,” offers Indiana Chamber Board Chairman Paul Perkins.

“The organization boasts a total of eight related entities, including a foundation, workforce and wellness programs, as well as the state’s largest political action committee. That’s the backdrop in which the new leader will step into and why we are making sure to have such a thorough and transparent process to find that uniquely qualified individual.”

The search for the new Indiana Chamber president and CEO will begin immediately. Providing support to Hoosier businesses, executing the strategic direction of the Indiana Chamber and driving the pro-jobs, pro-economy public policy agenda continue to define the job description.

Interested individuals should contact Carmel-based Medallion Partners at confidential@medallionpartnersinc.com by April 10. The firm will present a slate of candidates to the search committee, comprised of Indiana Chamber Board members, which then will select the top candidates for final interviews and recommendations to the Indiana Chamber Executive Committee and Board of Directors.

The goal, Perkins says, is to have the approved candidate in place by late summer or early fall 2023 in time to work alongside Brinegar for several months.

The Indiana Chamber, formed in 1922, is the largest, broad-based business advocacy group in the state, representing businesses of all types and sizes throughout Indiana. The organization also provides cost-saving benefits and business information – through publications, seminars and programming – to its members to enable them to grow their companies.
