SEYMOUR – A Seymour couple was arrested on armed robbery charges after they stole a handgun.

On February 22, 2023, Seymour Police officers responded to the 600 block of South Vine Street after a report of an armed robbery. When officers arrived, the victim reported that 19-year-old Hunter Coomer of Seymour held them at gunpoint and took their handgun.

Coomer also had his girlfriend, 18-year-old Max Caudill, of Seymour, with him at the time of the robbery.

Investigators conducted some follow-up investigations and learned that the robbery may have been drug-related. Patrol officers and investigators attempted to locate Coomer and Caudill but were unable to find them.

Arrest warrants were issued for both on charges of armed robbery, intimidation, pointing a firearm, and theft. Caudill was wanted on charges of armed robbery and theft.

On March 4, 2023, Comer and Caudill were located at a convenience store in Scottsburg, by officers with the Scott County Sheriff’s Department. Both were detained and transported to the Scott County Jail on outstanding warrants.

The vehicle the two were in was towed to a secure location. On March 6, investigators obtained a Jackson Superior Court 1 search warrant to search the vehicle that Coomer and Caudill had been in, for the weapon that Coomer used during the robbery and the weapon that Comer had stolen from the victim. During the search of the vehicle, neither weapon was located.

However, investigators located a handgun that had been reported stolen in Jackson County and marijuana.

Comer and Caudill are awaiting extradition back to Jackson County to face charges. Additional charges are possible for Coomer and Caudill.
