Altrusa members meet to discuss recent projects, future plans

BEDFORD – Members of Altrusa, a local non-profit focused on community service, met on Feb. 13 to discuss recent initiatives, as well as future plans.

Members continue to volunteer every Tuesday at the front desk at the Lawrence County Museum. Calendars, greeting cards, hats, gloves and scarves were donated to Core Nursing and Rehab.

The main fundraiser for the year is the sale of nuts. Nina Doan received special recognition as Outstanding Saleswoman for this project.

Jennie Edwards reported on the Altrusa scholarship presented by the BNL Scholarship Foundation. Members voted to increase the Altrusa scholarship to $1000.00

Altrusa meets on the second Monday of every month at the Mixing Bowl restaurant. They will next meet March 13.
