Man arrested in fatal Fort Wayne hit-and-run accident that left one dead

FORT WAYNE — A 27-year-old man was arrested Sunday after fleeing the scene of a fatal hit-and-run in Fort Wayne.

Just after 3 a.m. Sunday, police responded to a report of a possible injured man on the ground at the intersection of Trier Road and Wyandotte Drive just east of Purdue University Fort Wayne. When they arrived, the man was unresponsive and pronounced dead at the scene.

A preliminary investigation determined the pedestrian was struck by a vehicle. The suspect’s vehicle was described as possibly being a Ford SUV with damage to the driver’s side headlight area. Police located the vehicle parked in front of a home in the 5100 block of Stonehedge Boulevard.

Joshua H. Reid was arrested and is facing a preliminary charge of leaving the scene of a fatal crash.

The crash remains under investigation. The Allen County Coroner will release the man’s name and manner of death following an autopsy.
