BEDFORD – Lawrence Circuit Court Judge Nathan G. Nikirk administered the oath of office to Amy Voorhies in Lawrence Circuit Court on Thursday, February 16, 2023.
Voorhies was appointed as Lawrence County Clerk after the former clerk, Billie Tumey, vacated the position to serve as the City of Bedford Clerk-Treasurer.
Voorhies was the only candidate to file for the position before the deadline for the announced caucus, which made the caucus unnecessary. Amy’s husband, family, several co-workers, and former Clerk Billie Tumey joined her for the swearing-in ceremony.
“I look forward to working with Amy, she will be a great fit for the position and I am confident she will
serve Lawrence County well,” said Judge Nathan Nikirk, Lawrence Circuit Court.
